Teaching
David has proven himself as an inspirational teacher in several institutions. He works regularly at the University of Westminster and University of London (Royal Holloway, UCL), and has often delivered masterclasses both in the UK and abroad.
He helped create Cutting Barking, a 40 minute film that candidly reveals the editing process for the feature documentary All White in Barking on a week by week basis.
Consultancy
David has been invited to supervise the editing of a range of projects from documentaries to feature films. This has led to a fruitful collaboration on a number of projects with Pulse Films, Grain Media and DocHouse.
He is a founding member of the Consulting Editors Network launched by Doc Soc for BFI, and as a result has been invited to establish an editing consultancy service for feature documentaries. His consultancy varies from simply providing notes on cuts, to giving advice for editing strategy, to overseeing the fundamental restructuring of projects.
